EMDR Basic Training FAQs

Who is eligible for training?

EMDRIA requires that participants practice EMDR Psychotherapy in between training weekends to assist in the proper integration and application of the training material. You will have help to determine what clients might be best to practice EMDR with during the required group consultation meetings. If you are a student or an intern, it is required that you provide documentation from your supervisor affirming their support of you practicing EMDR with clients during the course of this training. Additionally, EMDRIA requires that you practice EMDR as a client in training. This involves working on real material that you consider disturbing. Please consult with your healthcare team if you have any concerns about this. Please know that we offer a supportive environment and you have the ultimate control of what material you work on in the training.

PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Clinicians who possess an active license to practice psychotherapy are eligible to participate in EMDR Basic Training. However, the full eligibility requirements are outlined on the EMDRIA website. To view this criteria, CLICK HERE.

Consultation Requirements

10 hours of group consultation are required to complete EMDR Basic Training . The training staff provides consultation in small group settings via teleconferencing following Weekend 1 and continuing in the weeks following Weekend 2. Each EMDR Basic Training has established times for the group consultations and will be provided to you based on which training dates you are registered.  You are responsible to attend all assigned group consultation times in order to successfully complete the training. In the event that you are unable to attend the assigned consultation times, you are responsible to obtain approved outside consultation at your own expense. LK Institute will not reimburse any fees as a result of your absence in the assigned consultation groups.

Can I purchase CEs?

CE AVAILABILITY
We attempt to keep training costs as low as possible because of our belief in the power of EMDR Therapy and our vision of equipping as many clinicians as possible to use it. Continuing Education credits come as an additional cost to us. As we recognize that not every participant needs CE credits, we have made them optional for additional purchase. This helps us to keep training costs as low as possible. Currently we offer credit for NBCC and APA practitioners at an additional cost for those who are interested. EMDR Basic Training consists of 40 clock hours of continuing education for Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Work Counselors, Substance Abuse Counselors, and Licensed Psychologists. The cost of these 40 CE hours is $200. Please contact our office via email or phone to indicate if you would like to obtain these credits.  You have until the completion of your final consultation group to purchase these credits.
